Introduction

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established during the inception of the institute in 2007 with an annual intake of 60 students. In the academic year 2009-2010 the intake capacity rose to 120 and in the year 2013-2014 it rose to 180.The department has a faculty student ratio of 1:15 as per AICTE norms .The average teaching experience is more than 5 years. So far around 500 students have graduated. Every year our students secure placements in reputed companies like INFOSYS, TCS, TECH MAHINDRA, EFFTRONICS and VEDA IIT etc.

The department also offers two post graduate programs in VLSI& Embedded systems and Digital Electronics and Communication Systems (DECS) with an intake of 18 in each specialization. The major goal of the department of ECE is to produce highly knowledgeable, competent and resourceful young engineers who can perform well in a wide variety of job profiles. To achieve this goal the department is putting dedicated efforts in nurturing a strong foundation both in analytical and technological aspects laid down in the curriculum. It also provides ample opportunities to students to work on mini projects, develop communication skills, explore internship opportunities in industry and take part in national and international design contests.

The laboratory practical classes are conducted in a systematic manner, where complete plan is given at the time of commencement of the semester .The laboratories are well equipped with modern training facilities that cater to the requirements of the university syllabus. This department plays a vital role in training students of other branches of engineering too.

The department also encourages students to take up Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineers (GATE), Graduate Record Examination (GRE) during their final year so they can pursue their higher education either in India or countries like USA, UK, Canada, Australia etc.The department has an active ECE students’ forum where students learn to do projects and organize technical events like symposiums, paper presentations to inculcate a broader perceptive on the profession. These efforts have culminated in the form of placements in various leading industries and organizations.

Vision

To impart quality education through exploration and experimentation and generate socially conscious engineers, embedding ethics and values, for the advancement in science and technology.

Mission

  1. To educate students with a practical approach to dovetail them to industry-needs.
  2. To govern the institution with a proactive and professional management with passionate teaching faculty.
  3. To provide holistic and integrated education and achieve over all development of students by imparting scientific and technical, social and cognitive, managerial and organizational skills.
  4. To compete with the best and be the most preferred institution of the studious and the scholarly.
  5. To serve the community as disciplined responsible citizens in a rapidly changing and expanding global community.
  6. To forge strong relationships and linkage with the industry.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The Programme Educational Objectives of the B.Tech in Electronics and Communications Engineering programme are given below and are numbered from PEO1 to PEO5.

PEO-1: To provide the graduates with solid foundation in Electronics and Communications Engineering along with the fundamentals of Mathematics, Science, Computing and Engineering with a view to impart in them high quality technical skills like designing, modeling, analyzing and problem-solving with global competence.

PEO-2: To prepare and motivate graduates with recent technological developments related to core subjects like programming, databases, design of compilers and Network Security aspects and future technologies so as to contribute effectively for Research & Development by participating in professional activities like publishing and seeking copy rights.

PEO-3: To train the graduates for a high degree of employability in both public and private sector industries at national and international level by initiating in them professional competence, ethical administrative acumen and ability to handle critical situations.

PEO-4: To prepare the graduates for higher education by providing training to excel in competitive examinations and to improve their technical and intellectual capabilities for life-long learning process.

PEO-5: To train the graduates to have basic interpersonal skills and sense of social responsibility that paves them a way to become good team members and leaders.

Program Outcomes (POs)

The B.Tech ECE programme has documented measurable outcomes that are based on the needs of the programme’s stakeholders. The programme outcomes which are derived from ABET criteria are first drafted in the academic year 2009-10 and later revised in 2010-11. The programme outcomes that the department presently adapts to are as follows:

a. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
b. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
c. An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs, in the field of Electronics & Communications Engineering within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
d. An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams.
e. An ability to identify, formulates, and solves engineering problems.
f. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
g. An ability to communicate effectively.
