Electrical Machines Lab

The Electrical Machines Laboratory supports teaching; research and consultancy work on Electrical machines and drives. Through hands-on experiments with real machines, students gain practical experience on transformers and various types of machine drives. The laboratory can also be used for project work related to electrical machines and energy conversion.
The four main purpose of an electrical machines laboratory are:

  • To provide the student with practical knowledge of handling the electrical machines.
  • To correlate the theoretical classroom treatment with actual machine characteristics.
  • To demonstrate the most suitable testing techniques.
  • To educate engineer researchers and to conduct research in all aspects of electrical and electromechanical energy conversion.

Power Electronics Lab

Power electronic circuits are the backbone of almost every modern convenience. Automobiles, cell-phones, laptop and desktop computers, television sets, and kitchen appliances, among many other systems, require power electronics circuits to convert electrical energy to a useful form. This laboratory teaches the techniques for efficiently processing electrical energy into other forms. This gives a experience for the UG and PG students in designing circuits and building and debugging the design of the power electronics circuitry.

Control Systems Lab

Control Systems Lab focus on technical implementation issues of classical control theory in the frequency domain and modern control theory in the state-space. This laboratory is having different setups for the study of various topics of control systems, starting from old setups like synchros and PID controllers. In addition, the lab has stepper motor unit, Phase lead and lag compensator, AC servo motor, DC servo motor, AC position control trainer and DC position control trainer. The second order transfer function can be simulated using operational amplifier kit. This lab is useful for the students for the design projects related to various controllers like P,PI and PID. The response of the second order system can be obtained in time domain and frequency domain operations with necessary control models.

Electronic Circuits Lab

The objective of Electric Circuits laboratory is to impart hands on experience in verification of circuit laws and theorems, measurement of circuit parameters, study of circuit characteristics and simulation of time response. It also gives practical exposure to the usage of CRO, power sources, function generator etc.

Electrical Mesurements Lab

This lab comprises of phase shifting transformers, reactive load and various other equipment used for calibration and measurement of electrical quantities. This laboratory is equipped with all electrical bridge circuits like Kelvin's Double Bridge, Anderson's bridge, Schering Bridge to facilitate the measurement of unknown values of elements like resistor, capacitor and inductor. Errors in electrical measuring instruments can also be found. We can also find real and reactive power of unbalanced loads.
